The Early Days

My Name is Cory Triplett. I was born into a military family in Dallas Texas on August 27, 1971. My father was a Petty officer for the Navy as a Air Traffic Controller. I have two older brothers born in San Jose California and my sister was born in Alaska. Me and my Twin brother Keith (Tax) were the youngest. We stayed in the Dallas area after my mom and dad divorced. That was probably around the age of five. My mother supported us by waiting tables at a Restraint in Irving Texas till things in Dallas got to rough. We moved to a small town called Gun Barrel City Texas around the sixth grade. It was OK because I loved to fish and Ceder Creek Lake witch was at the time Texas biggest man made Reservoir was like almost in my back yard. The town was full of Rednecks but I learned to like them. They kinda grew on a fellow and eventually I ended up calling myself one. To the point that I called this place home. I loved it there had a lot of real close friends some of which I still have to this day. I was settling into high school which for me was very easy. I took all the so called hard classes early. My gift was mathematics by the tenth grade I had already taken all the math classes and was working on college calculus classes. But by this time I started going out and partying with my friends. I had a job working at the local McDonalds along with a lot of my friends which were in higher grades because of my birthday at the end of August my mother and the schools held me and my brother back in kindagarden and first grade. I guess you can say made me a little resentful. I really never had to study, I kinda had what you could call a photographic memory and I knew how to speed read. So needless to say school bored me. I skipped a lot and started getting into drinking and drugs. Around the end of the school year I came home to grab a new set of clean clothes when my mom hit me with the news. That the family was going to be packing and moving to Arkansas so my mom could start her new career as a Bail Bondsman. I said the hell you say, y'all can go I ain't going nowhere all my friends are here and this is were im going to graduate from high school. Like I said I haven't put in all this hard work for nothing. So we all agreed that I could stay behind and move in with my friend Bill that just graduated and was going to be starting college we both worked at McDonald's with our own vehicles so everything was perfect, so I thought.Teenage boys cut lose it was destine to fail from the beginning. After everything was over the fights with the girlfriends and so on and so forth I broke down and called my mom and asked for a bus ticket witch she always said if it didn't work out to call her. Well on arriving in Arkansas I got more bad news. Arkansas wouldn't except most of my credits from Texas. It was bad enough high school being the bore it was know they want to drop me back two more grades witch would put me at 20 to 21 at graduation. So what to do this was my delema. So what to do what to do. I had no friends here in this new state and I'm having to completely start over. I was thinking about going into the AirForce. Then I saw it on TV. There was this new college in Little Rock that specialized in Electrical Engineering with Robotics but in order to get in I had to get my GED and pass they say one of the hardest entrance exams ever made. They say only half pass and if you get below a 70 on two exams for the entire two years your out. I'm thinking all the math classes I've taken surely I got this. So I took my GED test that following week I passed it but I remember it being harder than I thought. It gave me a headacke it was so long. OK now I can concentrate on the college exam. I was going to do something I had never done before now. Study I had a week to get ready. Finally something that could spark my boat but here I come College.
